[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:06] Speaker B: We're in a season on all things related to the spiritual realm. So today we're jumping in the question of what are some common misconceptions about Satan or the Satan as we've talked about.
[00:00:17] Speaker A: Yeah, seriously. So in people's brains, they have this idea that Satan is a godlike figure, that he knows everything, he has unusual power. It's like Jesus and Satan are equals and they're fighting back and forth and it's a, it's a wrestling match, kind.
[00:00:32] Speaker B: Of like the devil and the angel on your shoulder idea of like they're competing and equal, but.
[00:00:37] Speaker A: But they're not. Yeah. You know, and so when you think about Jesus is the eternal son of his God in the flesh. Right.
All things were created by him, through him, for him and to him Jesus is the one who speaks in creation exists. Right. So the only reason Satan or any angel or demon exist is because Jesus thought him up, spoke him into existence. Colossians says that everything that is created in spiritual realm or the physical realm, or created by him, through him, to him, etc, this imp. This includes everything. Yeah, everything we can see and touch and spiritual, physical. So you have Jesus who is the eternal God, and then you have the creation, Satan and creation is limited. And so this, I think it's actually a great trick that Satan played on humanity to make us afraid of him and to feel like he is bigger and more powerful than he is. Now, don't get me wrong, he. He's powerful. That's not, I'm not trying to say he's not, but he's not God. And the Spirit of God, greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. And that is huge.
This is, I think one of the greatest benefits to becoming a real true Christian is that you're given the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of God. Greater is he the Holy Spirit of Christ in you than he who is in the world, the devil. So personally, I think there's no more compelling reason to become a follower of Christ. And anybody who even believes in the devil or the demonic realm should be right away compelled to give their life to Christ so that they have power.
[00:02:02] Speaker B: You can't believe in the Satan without believing in the one who created him.
[00:02:06] Speaker A: Right. And I will never understand how people can believe in darkness and demons and then push Jesus away. Like, the only reason we haven't even have a category for this is because the Scriptures have revealed to us what is really happening, you know, in the spirit realm. So let's, let's bring Some clarity. Okay, number one, let's talk about Satan's knowledge.
Satan is smart. Genesis says that he's crafty.
Ezekiel 28 says that he was given much wisdom and he's got insight and intuition. He's very, very intelligent, probably more intelligent than most of us. He also has millennia of accrued knowledge. So that's he's got an edge. He's watched humanity, he's watched millions and billions of us. We all fall for the same few tricks.
[00:02:50] Speaker B: He knows what we're susceptible to.
[00:02:52] Speaker A: He does.
And then if he really wants to somebody, all he's got to do is send a few minor level demons to watch us and watch our weaknesses and then plot out ways to trip us up. And so, like, he's smart, he has tools, he has resources, but he doesn't know everything.
And so we just kind of step back for a moment. We go, okay, he's not God. He's not all powerful. In fact, he can't do anything that Jesus doesn't let him do. So this idea that he is a dog on a leash, I think it's a really great principle. He can only go as far as Jesus leash lets him go. And his destiny is determined. I mean, he's done so right now we have this temporary season where he's given power a bit, but he's never more powerful than Jesus.
So his knowledge is limited, his power is limited. Again, he's powerful. But I love this line. It'll be like a broken record. Greater is he who's in you than he who's in the world.
So even though he is powerful, the spirit of God in you is far more powerful than he is to the point where God can look at Ryan Chaney and say, resist the devil. And by the laws of the spiritual universe, all you have to do is resist. Or Paul says, stand firm, and he is obligated to think about the word flee.
Who's scared now, right?
[00:04:20] Speaker B: Yeah. So it's like running with haste, right?
[00:04:23] Speaker A: It's just like, oh, God, no. You know, and so there, there is this principle that I think we just forget as believers. Greater is he who's in you than he who's in the world.
We have this idea, and I don't know where it came from, but I remember thinking this, like, he's everywhere, you know, this omnipresence. He's omnipotent, he's omniscient. He's. He's. But no, he is a created being confined to one place at one time. And so you're Never going to find Satan in two places at once.
Um, I, I've been. This is like my own ridiculous curiosity. I'm curious how fast angels can fly. You know what I mean? Like, can they go from like one point in space to another immediately? Because they're navigating the spirit realm.
[00:05:02] Speaker B: Are they teleporting?
[00:05:03] Speaker A: I know. Are they constrained by the speed of light? You know, I, you know, again, I don't, I don't pretend to understand that. But what I do know is he can only be consciously and presently in one place at a singular. At a singular time. So the best encouragement I could give to people is, Satan is not Jesus. He is not God. He does not know everything. He is not all powerful. He is not everywhere. He is a limited being, limited in power, limited in knowledge, limited in presence, limited like you and I are. And yet he is very smart. He is very intelligent, very crafty, very shrewd, knows the way we work. Right. And so this is why we need to be very knowledgeable of the word of God, aware of the traps and devices and schemes. He's got like six or seven. And they work for the vast majority of humanity. So once you kind of learn those, you learn like, oh, I'm not going to do that, because that just gives this finite being power over my life. I don't need to do that. So greater is he who's in you and me than he who's in the world.
[00:06:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I think that's a great word to end on. And that's thank you for the encouragement of understanding exactly who we are, who God is and how he's created us to be under his authority and Satan as well as under his authority.
[00:06:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
